The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA headquarters:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow: William Proctor, Investigative Toxicology Lab, Department of Safety Assessment
Description The Investigative Toxicology group in preclinical Safety Assessment is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the fundamental aspects of drug-induced liver injury (DILI), with emphasis on drug-related alterations in bile-acid homeostasis and subsequent mechanisms that lead to hepatocellular injury. The research will focus on implementing novel and cutting edge in vitro tools including 3D hepatic models as well as state-of-the-art molecular biology approaches to address specific function of transporter and metabolic processes in bile-acid related injury. The overall goal is to conclusively elucidate the role that different cellular mechanisms have in DILI and drug-related affects on bile-acid homeostasis. Surprisingly little is known of the key drivers of DILI in this context outside of correlative studies.
