Medical Director, Living Donor Liver Transplant Program at North Shore University Hospital – Manhasset, NY
The Northwell Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation and the Division of Hepatology at Northwell Health are actively seeking a Medical Director, Living Donor Liver Transplant Program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY.
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Board certification in transplant hepatology
- Provides clinical leadership as well as drives strategy and program development
- 5+ years of transplant hepatology experience is preferred
- Leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within a large health system or academic medical center
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
This role involves overseeing the medical care of patients with liver diseases, including those in need of liver transplantation. The position is open to candidates at the assistant, associate, and professor of medicine levels, depending on qualifications and experience. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and treating liver conditions, assessing eligibility for liver transplantation, overseeing both pre- and post-transplant care, and educating medical students, residents, and GI and Transplant Hepatology fellows. Candidates should be BE/BC in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, with proven expertise in General and Transplant Hepatology as well as endoscopy. This role requires individuals to have the necessary skills to lead donor evaluations and selection of donors for living donor liver transplant. In addition, the Medical Director, Living Donor Liver Transplant will lead policy and guideline development as well as ongoing maintenance, drive the strategic vision of the program, participation, and direction of relevant QAPI initiatives, and lead the overall program.
The role demands excellence in clinical and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork and patient care, and eligibility for medical licensure in New York State. Additionally, the position is suitable for individuals at various stages of their academic careers, including assistant, associate, and full professor levels. Experience in academic research and/or teaching is highly valued and will be considered a significant advantage.
