- Research Fellowship in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking one highly qualified individual for a joint translational science /clinical research fellowship position studying HPB surgical outcomes and transplantation. This is a funded position requiring a two-year commitment. The individual will work under the mentorship of Dr. Ben Samstein, M.D. and Dr. Juan Rocca and Dr. Rohit Chandwani, M.D., Ph.D.. Responsibilities will include the execution of both clinical projects as well as a database development, video editing and manuscript writing. We provide a training in aspects of clinical investigation.
The ideal candidate should have an M.D and be highly motivated with excellent communication skills. Applicants must be in good standing in their respective residency programs and committed to an academic career in transplantation or HPB surgery. A genuine interest in scientific investigation is required.
Job Responsibility
Participates in research activities; assists the research team in identifying appropriate potential candidates for research protocols and preparation of research documents. Consents patients for research protocols. Works with collaborators in hepatology, surgery, medical oncology, radiology to ensure patient participation in research trials.
Prepares and writes manuscripts for publication. Authorship available for appropriate contributions
Assists in recording, editing of surgical videos for education, academic conferences, performance improvement process.
Works with research compliance within the department and institutions to maintain regulatory compliance.
Maintains organized filing of documents, research protocols
Supports staff in preparing for academic/research meetings and presentations including coordination with other departments.
Assists in the drafting of research proposals

Job Qualification
Medical degree or equivalent required.
