Description
Description:Piedmont Transplant Institute, a national leader in liver transplant quality, volumes, and patient experience, is seeking a full time Transplant Hepatologist to join our team. The individual will be one of 7 full-time hepatologists, along with 3 adjunct clinical hepatologists, and will be part of a true multidisciplinary transplant institute model of care.
Piedmont's liver transplant program is based in Atlanta, with transplant surgeons, transplant hepatologists, and transplant nephrologists working together with APPs, coordinators, pharmacists and staff in one of the largest U.S transplant programs. Piedmont performed over 600 solid organ transplants in 2024, including over 170 liver transplants, and operates the Lifelink Organ Recovery Center at Piedmont Atlanta. Our team is involved in significant liver transplant clinical research, and utilizes organ perfusion and NRP protocols to optimize organ acceptance and transplant outcomes. Staffing of our transplant service includes in-house night time transplant APPs, with the hospital maintaining in-house ICU, hospitalist medicine, and cardiology care.
The liver team is responsible for hepatology, peri-transplant medical care, selected endoscopy work, and post-transplant follow up. While all physicians are based in Atlanta, the liver program also maintains a group of monthly satellite clinics throughout Georgia. Our physicians enjoy competitive compensation, generous PTO and retirement/health benefits, as well as CME, board certification and licensure reimbursement. Our physicians maintain clinical appointments at Mercer School of Medicine and will supervise GI fellows from Morehouse School of Medicine.
Candidates should have completed GI and transplant hepatology fellowships and will be eligible for licensure in Georgia. The program values exceptional communication skills, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Piedmont Healthcare is a top-rated system with award winning hospitals and employees comprised of 23 hospitals and facilities, more than 3,500 physicians, and over 1600 clinic practice locations across greater Atlanta and North Georgia. With over 1 million outpatient encounters, you will have the opportunity to see and treat a variety of medical conditions. Piedmont Healthcare is a fast-growing, recognized leader in delivering expert care. Metro Atlanta's vibrant economy fuels a wealth of global communities and diverse cultural experiences, while the state of Georgia offers coastline beaches and mountain views.
