The Jefferson College of Population Health is recruiting a senior faculty member at the Associate level to fill a full-time faculty position in the College’s growing public health program. The position is full-time, based in Philadelphia, and is tenure-eligible. The ideal candidate will be student-centered and an accomplished scholar and teacher with a record of peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding, and excellent teaching evaluations. Candidates from all public health sub-specializations are welcomed to apply, particularly candidates from underrepresented minority groups with expertise and interest in conducting research and teaching courses in health disparities and/or health equity.
Major Job Duties
As a senior faculty member, the Associate Professor will work with other faculty, College leadership, staff, and students to continue to strengthen the public health program’s national reputation and contribute to the overall success of the College and University. Specific job duties include:
Developing, revising, and teaching courses in the public health program, including electives.
Participating on shared governance committees, including the MPH Curriculum Sub-Committee.
Giving career and academic advising to students, as needed.
Representing the public health program at relevant community events, recruiting events, and on College and University
committees, as appropriate.
Conducting extramurally-funded research and publishing papers in peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
Providing service to professional and scholarly societies.
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications for this position are commensurate with those expected of a senior faculty member at the associate level in other accredited schools/programs of public health. Specifically, this includes:
Being student-centered, collegial, and collaborative.
Experience teaching public health courses at the graduate level.
Solid track record of extramural funding
Scholarship in peer-reviewed journals.
Ability and desire to mentor and advise student researchers.
Terminal degree in a related field (i.e., PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, etc.)
