Overview The Medical ICU at the University of Minnesota Medical Center is a newly remodeled 19 bed critical care unit. We care for patients with many different diagnoses including: multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest. Therapies we utilize include hypothermia, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), paralytics, and proning. Our complex, high-acuity patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families. This is a faced-paced and highly technical medical environment. About this position:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Required:
