This position is located within GI clinic, Nursing Service, Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS), Phoenix, AZ. PVAHCS is a Level 1a major interdisciplinary teaching facility with functional service lines serving medical, surgical, mental health, and long-term care inpatients and outpatients with an Emergency Department and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). Major duties: The GI Laboratory RN is accountable for the delivery of quality nursing care for the patients processed in the designated outpatient areas. The GI Lab RN has responsibilities which include assessing, planning and directing appropriate care in the GI Lab and creating an environment that promotes, stimulates and fosters personnel growth and satisfaction. He/she will be responsible for pre, peri, and post procedural monitoring and teaching. The incumbent will assist with GI procedures by circulating, administering conscious sedation, and hands on participation. He/She will assist in coordinating activities and services with ancillary departments to promote effective and efficient patient care. The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to establish rapport with personnel, patients and family so that effective patient care is administered and appropriate health education is accomplished. He/She will process designated patients prior to appointments by monitoring vital signs, allergy status, and observing and assessing for immediate or potential problems related to their disease process and/or treatment. The GI Lab RN will assist in identifying needs for in-service programs and actively participates in staff directed educational programs. And will initiate and/or participates in developing departmental goals and Quality Improvement activities including monitors related to patient care. The RN will be primarily assigned to GI Lab but will also cover GI clinic as needed. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
