Natividad is currently seeking to fill a temporary Endoscopy Technician position. Under immediate to general supervision, the incumbent will maintain an appropriate field to provide support for physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedures; prepare and maintain instruments and equipment; may obtain specimens; and perform other related work as required.
Example of Duties:
Cleans, disinfects or calibrates scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards
Prepares rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements
Assists physicians or registered nurses in conducting endoscopic procedures
Collects specimens from patients using standard medical procedures
Maintains endoscopic equipment
Performs safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning
Places devices on patients to monitor vital signs
Positions or transports patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel
Maintains inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies
Performs other related duties as required
Minimum qualifications include 1 year of experience assisting physicians or medical personnel with gastroenterology or pulmonology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in an acute care setting, possession of a valid CPR/BLS certificate from approved provider or ability to obtain prior to start of employment, and a combination of experience, education and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities: gastroenterology and pulmonology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; aseptic techniques and methods; medical terminology and hospital routine; instruments and equipment used for endoscopy procedures and their proper maintenance; assist physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedures; consistently perform previously described duties with manual dexterity; communicate effectively to relay and receive information from physicians, nurses and patients; calm patients under varying degrees of stress; maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and others contacted through the course of work; and respond in a positive manner to supervision and direction. Possession of a valid California Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant is highly desirable.
