Middle Park Health is a 25-bed critical access hospital, with level IV emergency services at two main facilities, Kremmling and Granby. In addition, the health system has five rural health clinics and one urgent care clinic. The main facility is in Granby and features two operating rooms, outpatient ancillary services and specialty support including general surgery, orthopedics, GI, OB, podiatry, cardiology, urology, and dermatology. Middle Park Health serves the county’s 15,000+ residents as well as over 2 million annual visitors. Middle Park Health employs over 250 staff.
The Director of Information Systems is responsible for planning, designing and implementing organization-wide information systems and technologies. Other responsibilities include research, development and application of new information system technologies to support the goals of managing and operating the organization.
Essential Job Duties:
Implements and maintains EPIC systems and databases to ensure optimum performance.
Leads and conducts MPMC’s EPIC and application’s training programs.
Manages and maintains MPMC’s relationship with Centura Health’s Community Connect
Manages and maintains MPMC’s relationship with Synoptek.
Serves as the focal point to maintain the Disaster Recovery environment with Synoptek.
Develops standards, policies, and procedures regarding the acquisition, implementation and operation of computer and telecommunication systems with Synoptek.
Manages all complex Information System projects/products in order to provide automated solutions that meet MPMC’s business needs using the EPIC software and other applications.
Communicates project and team status to internal and external audiences to keep allow for information to be consistent
Conducts or participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost and evaluate usefulness of Information Systems.
Assists in recruitment, development and training of existing and new employees as it relates to EPIC.
Participates in the organization's strategic direction for use of Epic applications from a Clinical Information Systems perspective and understands the overall goals and strategy of the organization.
Actively participates in the Strategic Planning process for the IT/IS initiatives.
Develops policies and procedures regarding the privacy and security of Information Services complaint with regulatory requirements.
Consistent with the business strategy, develops and manages and monitors annual operating and capital budgets for IT operations.
Communicates information systems plans, policies and trends to the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership and the Staff.

Follows established Middle Park Medical Center and department specific policies & procedures.
Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established Middle Park Medical Center procedures. Requests scheduled time off according to policy & procedure.
Develops annual operating and capital budgets. Oversees the department’s expenses to stay within budgetary constraints and obtain approval for exception items.
Follows Financial Policies to ensure purchases and requisitions, payroll, and revenue are processed appropriately.
Provides leadership to the department, including development of policies and procedures, holding and documenting meetings to disseminate critical information, establishing departmental goals and direction in alignment with MPMC.
Manages staff on a daily basis promoting a positive work environment and team players. Ensures positive interaction amongst all MPMC departments.
Responsible for hiring, counseling, mentoring, and terminating staff according to MPMC policies. Provides feedback to staff, both positive and areas for improvement. Completes performance evaluations on a timely basis. Performs competency assessments.
Manages and direct the department’s administrative functions.
Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate for to meet department quality and service needs, while managing the budgetary concerns.
Promotes staff development to enhance skill via on-the-job training, cross-training, attending MPMC sponsored workshops, and/or attending specific off-site training. Offers continuing education.
Provides direction for the team that is clear, concise, consistent, and promotes efficiencies within the team of MPMC.

Position Supervises: Staff members of Medical Information Systems (MIS) department.
Interpersonal Relationships: The incumbent must have strong communication skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with KMHD employees, physicians, and community members.
Degree of Supervision Provided: Minimal, must be self-directed, able to work independently, and provide leadership for KMHD staff.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or Healthcare Administration and/or other related areas.
Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Progressive leadership experience with process design and implementation of EPIC Community Connect systems with ability to meet Centura Health’s requirements to be a certified trainer.
Relevant management level experience, preferably in a health care organization.
Proven ability to successfully undertake multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Experience working with executives, physicians and clinicians, governance members and other leaders to drive priorities
Financial and business acumen.
Excellent oral and written skills.
Experience with data and analytics as a driver for successful planning implementation, and transformation.
Comprehensive understanding of security and privacy demands in a patient care environment.
Excellent strategic and operational planning skills, organizational development and leadership skills.
Epic Implementation and optimization experience, 5 or more years of direct Epic support.
One or more Epic certification(s) required.
Must be in good physical and emotional health. Must work well under pressure, demonstrate sound judgment and have the ability to adapt easily to changing demands and priorities. Normal vision and manual dexterity is required. Neglect of safety factors and/or body mechanics may result in personal injury.
