The RN (GI Lab) position provides care to veterans at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (OKCVAHCS). OKCVAHCS is a Level 1b major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). The RN (GI Lab) performs a variety of duties, not limited to, the following: Providing care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses. Demonstrating leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Demonstrating accurate and timely documentation of patient care according to the Standards for GI Lab care setting and Observation patients. Demonstrating understanding of facility performance metrics that can be influenced by care provided in the GI Lab setting. Demonstrating decision-making and utilizing the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance of veteran care. Utilizing collaboration to process and solve problems. Demonstrating critical thinking with efficiency and accuracy in assessing and managing situations. Functioning as the liaison and care manager coordinating the clinical care of a defined group of patients. Managing the inter-procedural process to include appointment management, procedure arrangements, and scheduling in the medical record. Facilitating pre-and post-procedural testing and care while adhering to established protocols, standard operating procedures and scope of practice. Cross-training to cover other GI specialties as needed. Work Schedule: Shifts vary depending on the needs of the service. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
