University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. We provide a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology (cancer care) services and blood and marrow and organ transplantation.
Our clinical staff apply innovative approaches to creating medical breakthroughs based their work with patients and on findings through research at the University of Minnesota. This has led to several firsts, including the first successful pediatric blood marrow transplant, infant heart transplant in Minnesota and cochlear ear implant surgery for a child.

Pediatric Med/Surg - Unit 5
All pediatric patients requiring non-intensive care including specialty populations of pediatric hematololgy/oncology, solid organ transplant, GI/GU & metabolic.
Also provides general medical surgical pediatric care, trauma, orthopedic, ENT, neurosurgical, & other care patients and their families.
We work together with the entire interdisciplinary team (MDs, NPs, NSTs, OT/PT, Speech, SW, etc) to deliver high quality care to our families.
May float to take care of other med/surg pediatric patients including BMT. Patient assignment varies based on acuity.
This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the rotating day/night shift, 12 hour shifts, every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan reimbursement.
Provides care to pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow and solid organ (liver, pancreas, bowel, kidney) transplant, metabolic, gastrointestinal, and general medical/surgical patients and their families
Manages complex medication and infusion therapies
Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
Knowledge of medications and infusions such as, but not limited to:
Stem cell infusions
Low dose vasoactive infusions
Knowledge of patient monitoring such as, but not limited to:
Knowledge and skill in the nursing role when caring for patients undergoing the following procedures/interventions:
Chest tube placement
Wound vac therapy
Knowledge and skill in the safe operation of the following equipment on the unit.
Continuous passive motion machine
BLS for healthcare providers
MN RN licensure
Acute Care Inpatient RN experience
Demonstrated nursing leadership and professional advancement including certification in a pediatric specialty area. PALS/PEARS
