Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager, Patient Care Services is a direct supervisory leadership role that is a key member of the Nursing leadership team. Leads staff members and actively participates in overall management of the area, development of clinical practice, and provision of patient care with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes for people leadership, quality, service, compliance, finance, throughput, and scheduling. Ensures the unit's optimal performance by engaging in effective problem solving for staff, patients, and families and to develop/lead the assigned staff. Provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high-performance culture. Under the guidance and direction of the manager, develops, implements, and evaluates systems that promote cost effective quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Under guidance of manager, implements area specific quality planned linked to the organization's goals.
• Develops, manages, and evaluates area based on work team performance.
• Manages projects/on-going work activities (timelines, work plans, deliverables) and maintains alignment with strategic plan and vision.
• Acts as clinical leader and facilitates education for staff on clinical standards; routinely provides guidance/coaching to subordinates/peers within clinical specialty(ies).
• Ensures that clinical assignments are based on patient care needs and demonstrated staff competencies.

• Pediatric Neurology
  • The Neurology specialists at Children's Hospital work with your family to diagnose and treat disorders of the brain, spinal cord, muscles and nerves. • Pediatric Neurosurgery
  • We in Pediatric Neurosurgery understand the importance of your trust in diagnosing and treating your child. Our neurosurgeons have received years of additional training to specialize in surgery for children, but our care extends beyond the operating room. We coordinate care with the wide range of experts in child health and family support services located right here at Children's Hospital. We believe this family-centered approach leads to less stress and better outcomes for your child.
• Pediatric Plastic Surgery
  • Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children's Hospital offers diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive patient-centered care for acquired or congenital cosmetic and reconstructive problems in children and adolescents.
• Pediatric Genetics
  • Children's Hospital is a national leader in genetic care and research. Our place at the forefront of discovery allows us to quickly bring research results to patient care. We diagnose, counsel and treat patients with a wide range of genetic disorders, birth defects and developmental concerns.
• Maternal Fetal Medicine
  • The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine provides expertise in high-risk, complicated pregnancies. We treat any medical condition or pre-existing illness that could affect a pregnancy, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions, a history of pre-term labor and delivery, the loss of a pregnancy, multiple babies and genetic diseases. Our focus is helping our patients successfully manage conditions that have the potential to affect pregnancy -- paving the way for a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery and a healthy baby.
• Pediatric Pain
  • Occasionally, a child's medical condition may lead to pain that does not resolve quickly, leading to poor physical and psychological function in school, at home or in sports. The Outpatient Pediatric Pain Management Clinic at Children's Hospital evaluates your child by referral from your primary care or specialist provider. We help your child better manage pain and improve physical and psychological functioning, sometimes with medications.

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
