Job Summary:
Supports the licensed healthcare team members in the provision of patient care to include direct patient care, providing healthcare information to patients/families, and following established plan of care. Works in close collaboration with the RN or a licensed healthcare team member to evaluate the patient's plan of care and progress toward goal attainment. All patient care activities are undertaken with the delegation/supervision of a licensed professional in accordance with VUMC standards and licensure regulations.

Department Summary:

• Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic: At Children's Hospital, our Pediatric Rheumatology team provides expert treatment for children and teens with many autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions, including juvenile arthritis, lupus and vasculitis. Our rheumatologists specialize in conditions of the bones, joints and muscles.

• Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic: The Ian M. Burr Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children's Hospital is nationally recognized for our expertise, experience and research in hormone-related disorders in children. We evaluate and treat a wide range of disorders, including those of the adrenal gland, bone and calcium, growth, the pituitary gland, hypoglycemia, puberty and thyroid disease and certain genetic disorders.

• Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic: The division of pediatric infectious diseases features nationally and internationally-recognized leaders in vaccine development and vaccine safety, bacterial infections such as pertussis and staphylococcus aureus, viral infections such as influenza and coronaviruses (e.g. SARS), pediatric HIV/AIDS, global health, antimicrobial stewardship, and the care of children with compromised immune systems.
  
• Pediatric Spina Bifida Clinic: Vanderbilt's Spina Bifida Clinic has more than 40 years of experience treating babies with this condition. In 2017 we saw 340 clinic visits and a total of 1,185 appointments. We are known around the world for pioneering prenatal spina bifida surgery. Other babies at Children's Hospital are treated for this condition after birth.
  
• Pediatric Transgender Clinic: The Division of Endocrinology provides care to gender variant and transgender children and adolescents. Our clinic offers a setting for your family to receive education and resources regarding medical transition.
  
• Pediatric Genetics Clinic: Children's Hospital is a national leader in genetic care and research. Our place at the forefront of discovery allows us to quickly bring research results to patient care. We diagnose, counsel and treat patients with a wide range of genetic disorders, birth defects and developmental concerns.

Position Shift:

• Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Qualifications - External:

Graduate of an approved discipline specific program (or equivalent experience) and 1 year relevant experience

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

• Licensed Practical Nurse Required

Additional Qualification Information:

• Based on regulations from the TN Board of Nursing and VUMC policy, LPNs have the following practice limitations: (1)May NOT initiate the administration of blood or blood products, (2)May NOT administer experimental drugs (research drugs used in studies for anything other than indications for use by the pharmaceutical company), (3)May NOT administer any intravenous chemotherapeutic agents, (4)May NOT administer IV push medication.
