Purpose Statement / Position Summary The Registered Dietitian (RD) is a specialist in nutrition who is responsible for medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and education of patients who are living with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Working in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the RD shares current, evidence-based knowledge with patients and their families as well as with other health care professionals. Experience 1) A minimum of 2 years working with diabetes patients is preferred. 2) Certified Diabetic Educator STRONGLY preferred. 3) Experience in the community and/or Primary Care setting preferred. 4) Spanish speaking a plus. 5) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6) Must be open-minded and non-judgmental.
Education 1) B.S. degree required 2) Meet the requirements for a Registered Dietitian as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 3) Current, active Registered Dietitian certification (also known as Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist)confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required
