The Transplant Center at New York Medical College–Westchester Medical Center seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible Transplant Hepatologists at all levels of experience to join our liver transplant program. Qualified candidates will provide transplant services and advanced hepatology care to patients with end stage liver disease, focusing on potential liver transplant recipients, pre-transplant workup and evaluation, providing post-transplantation care, and managing immunosuppression. The candidate will participate in patient selection conferences, liver transplant clinic, and house staff teaching. Participation and productivity in research are expected.
Located in a state-of-the-art facility, The Transplant Center sees over 12,000 patient visits and performs 85-90 liver transplants per year. Our team provides consultative services as well as transplant related care to patients throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond. As part of a vibrant and growing liver transplant program, the successful candidate will be directly involved in all phases of transplant care and work closely with our transplant surgeons in a collaborative team atmosphere.
WMCHealth’s Liver Transplant Program is one of the oldest and most established transplant centers in the country. Since the program began, our teams have performed over 1,300 adult and pediatric liver transplants. Our physicians and surgeons handle the most complex cases requiring expertise and precision. In addition to deceased donor transplants, we also offer living donor transplant and multiorgan transplant. In fact, our center ranks among the top 25% of U.S. transplant centers for multiorgan transplant volume since 1996.
Inpatients and outpatients are managed both pre-transplant for the complications of liver failure, and post-transplantation to maintain graft function. The multi-disciplinary care of these complex patients integrates several medical specialties, as well as social workers, nutritionists, and coordinators.
